Two hours, then the address closes

A fixed window, not a suggestion

Every Lumenbox address is built to last two hours from the moment the page creates it. The line under the address says that in one sentence, and it may also show how much of the window is left. Two hours means two hours. There is no extend control, no paid extra day, and no quiet exception for an address that has already received something important. If you need the message after the window, you needed a different mailbox at the start.

The timer lives with the address in your browser. Reload the homepage and the same address should still be there if the two hours have not elapsed. Press New address or Delete and the clock starts over on a different local-part; the old one is no longer the address this page will show you. Leave the tab open or close it: the storage is what matters, not whether the window stays focused. Another browser, or a cleared storage, does not inherit the old address. Treat the combination of this browser and this site as the place the clock is kept.

What the end of the window means

When the two hours are up, the page retires the address and prepares a new one. Anything you failed to copy out is gone from your side of the screen. That includes codes, links, and any text you meant to paste elsewhere. This is why the signup guide tells you to finish the form while you are still in the chair. A confirmation you plan to “deal with tonight” is a confirmation you have chosen to risk. The design is intentionally slightly inconvenient. Long-lived temporary mail becomes a junk drawer. A short life forces the decision: keep the value, or let it go.

Refresh does not pause the clock and does not add mail. It records that you looked. An empty table after a refresh is not a glitch in the timer; it means no message is being displayed. The lifetime rule is still stated, because it is the rule the interface is built around, not a claim that letters are already arriving and then aging out.

How to spend the two hours

Copy the address, do the one task, copy out anything you must keep, and stop. You do not need to archive the inbox, because there is nothing here that should become an archive. You do not need an account on Lumenbox to “save” the mailbox. If the task is not finished and the timer is low, do not expect the site to stretch it. Start again with a new address only if the other website will send a fresh code to the new one. Asking the first site to re-send to an address this page has already replaced will not help.
